Volunteer Staff Writer

We are looking for volunteers to write content on career-related topics.  The articles will include informational interviews of professionals in various fields for our career spotlight series, resources for newcomers and other career development content.

This role is a great opportunity to talk to people in fields you may be interested in pursuing and build connections.  It’s also an opportunity to work on a team and get feedback on your writing.

You’ll be playing an important part in supporting our mission of empowering job seekers, especially newcomers to Canada and non-traditional candidates.  You'll be helping us facilitate just that.

After writing several articles accepted for publication, volunteers will be eligible for a letter of recommendation from Thrive’s board member(s) and/or a reference for future employment.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Write and edit articles, blog posts, and other content following our editorial guidelines

  • Have a voice in the content we produce by pitching original ideas to the editorial team

  • Proofread and edit content for clarity, grammar, and punctuation.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent written communication skills with a strong command of grammar and spelling.

  • Passion for storytelling and creating content that makes a positive impact.

  • Some published examples of writing

  • Strong research and fact-checking skills.
