If you’re feeling stuck in your career or unhappy in your current role, online career coaching can potentially help you. A career coach can help you identify your interests, values or identify environments where you can do your best work.
They can also help you with practical concerns such as reviewing your resume, impression management and networking skills. Effective career coaching can also help you identify psychological barriers preventing you from moving forward in your career.
Yes, our coaching sessions are offered online over Google Meet.
Where do I meet with my coach or counsellor? Is it online?
Yes. We offer 3 free sessions. If you’d like to continue for more than 3, we ask that you just cover the cost of each session. The cost is $40 (plus credit card processing fees, if paying by card).
Is this really free?
Our coaching is offered by a mix of counselling students and certified career coaches. These students are supervised by an experienced psychologist. That means they meet regularly with the supervisor and ask any questions they may have about how best to help you.
Who is doing the coaching?
If you haven’t come to a Thrive event or if we have some questions about how best to help you, we will send you a link to set up a brief intake conversation (around 15 minutes). This will help us identify the best coach for your needs. After this intake, if we have availability, we will email you some administrative documents and some times to schedule with your coach.
I filled out the form. What happens next?
Yes. Everything you say is confidential and only shared with the program supervisor or other trainees as needed. However, there are a few exceptions. If we believe you may harm yourself, harm others or that a vulnerable individual such as a child or elderly adult is at risk, we may need to break confidentiality to get assistance.
Is what I say confidential?
We understand that things come up. However, we ask that you give us 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel. Because our trainees and coaches are volunteering their time and it is disruptive to have a last-minute cancellation, cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged the $40 cost of the session. Further sessions will be paused until we receive those funds.
What happens if I need to cancel?
Your case notes are stored in a secure digital system with servers located in Canada. However, anything you send us over email is not confidential because our email servers are provided by Google, which is not FIPPA compliant.
Do you keep any records? Where are they stored?
We understand that feeling comfortable with your coach is important. And sometimes it is just not a fit. While our funding is still limited to 3 free sessions, we are happy to offer you another coach upon request. Just send an email to support@thriveprosociety.com.
