Group Facilitator

Thrive Professional Society is looking for an individual skilled in helping skills to facilitate group sessions. We are a team of psychology and social work students running a support group focused on helping newcomers to Canada and other professionals undergoing life transitions looking for social support.

We are seeking to expand our offerings to include a 6 week Hope and Action Theory group.

Although our supervisor is one of the creators of Hope and Action Theory, they are licensed in the United States.  As such, this may not count towards practicum hours in a Canadian graduate program in social work or counselling.  However, it is a great opportunity to learn Hope and Action Theory and improve group facilitation skills.

Responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating two, 2-hour group sessions a month in Downtown Vancouver or online

  • Meeting with our supervisor to go over group plans

  • Being supportive of group members

This is a great opportunity to gain an in depth understanding of Hope and Action Theory, be at the forefront of an evolving, innovative mental health intervention and build group facilitation skills.

Thrive Professional Society conducts research on the mental and physical health of newcomers and others undergoing life transitions, online group therapy techniques and career development.  It also offers free supervised coaching, educational groups centered around Hope and Action Theory as well as ongoing support groups for newcomers and those needing support.

Qualifications

Either advanced undergraduate in psychology or social work with significant helping experience. Current graduate student in Counselling Psychology or social work preferred.
